Welcome! I'm Claire.
If you feel a calling to live beyond any limiting or falsely held idea of yourself, so you can walk a path that honors the fullness of who you are, you’re in the right place. Here at Elbow Tree, I’ll invite you to have radically honest conversations so you can develop conviction in the belief that you are made to do whatever your heart beats for. I graduated with my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The College of William and Mary. I work under the direct supervision of my clinical supervisor, Hayne Steen, LMHC (MH16012). I’d be honored to hold space for you to become more of who you already are in the counseling hour as this year's Counseling Intern. |
1stWe'll ChatE-mail me to schedule a 15-30 minute chat. Bring a cup of coffee or tea if you'd like so I can hear your heart for counseling. You'll tell me what brings you in & together we'll get a sense of if I'm the right fit.
|
2ndWe'll Book You InDuring that call we'll get a time on the calendar. Self-care weekends are a thing, and I help you make space on Saturday or Sunday to honor yourself in the counseling hour.
|
3rdWe'll Get To WorkWe'll get to the worthy work of counseling. That anxiety you're feeling? Week by week it'll give way to so much ease. Trust yourself. You were born for this.

Growing spiritually

There’s a song that goes “Word of God, speak,” and it sounds like a plea: that God would speak the truth into the song-writers life, so that she can take rightful action toward this intent.
The voice of God lends the peace of unspeakable certainty. This comes from trusting and knowing that you are stewarded in a well intended direction. But God’s voice isn’t the only voice we hear. We co-author our lives with God, but we also inherit so many stories. From well-intended loved ones, from our culture, from experiences that impress upon us the belief that we are lesser-than; incapable of walking out what is intended for us. |
What do you do when you know that these false beliefs that aren’t worthy of authoring your story are written into your daily life?
It may sound likes self-doubt. And self defeat. It may sound like fear. Over time, it may feel like you can’t trust yourself to know what you need, deserve, and desire. Here at Elbow Tree, l will welcome you into the protection of the counseling hour, so that you can put these stories that do not serve you in their rightful place. Through our work together, you’ll practice embracing the freedom of self-trust so you can claim ownership over your life and your calling by taking easeful, aligned action in authoring writing your life’s story. |
On GriefBut also on mother's and daughters. A friend wrote this, and it helped me to find joy in grief, and gratitude for life. Sarah knew her mom would pass, I didn't know my grandmother who'd raised me was approaching death. Sarah taught me about the radical now-ness of living that comes in the face of death. And I needed that. Maybe you do, too. |
Because...PoetryPoetry is healing. End of story. This one reads like music and reminds me of the power of taking pause, of listening to the silence between things. It's about place. And how attached we can become. And how to find belonging beyond where we spend ourd days. |
On LineageIt took like...30 people telling me to read this before I picked it up - I'm *that* person who refuses the best-seller list. (Roll your eyes at me, I get it). It's about lineage, and what we inherit, and how to get to know ourselves. It's also about forgiveness, and in some ways, the inner work of reconciliation we all need to feel peace. |
On Faith I bought this for my grandmother to help her connect with God as she navigated aging gracefully with dementia. Now that she's made her heavenly ascent, I connect to Him through this same copy. It lends me so much grace. Keep in on your coffee table for that little nudge to lean in to Him.
