Thanks for stopping by my page.

Are you in a difficult life transition? Does depression or anxiety have you feeling stuck in a rut? There is good news for you if you are struggling with these difficult feelings. We all face problems with anxiety, anger, sadness, guilt, shame and hopelessness at times. This does not mean that you are not healthy, but it may mean that you need support in managing  these emotions in productive ways.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, or are feeling overwhelmed by choices and difficulties, I can help. Each person is unique and I work in each session with genuine interest and empathy for your situation and experience. Solutions are arrived at together and we uncover beliefs and unhelpful patterns to choose helpful paths and release painful emotions.

Recognizing the source of emotional pain and addressing it head on can lead to amazing changes in life. I encourage my clients to let go of self-criticism and judgment and to recognize that their beliefs, emotions, and behaviors all developed as a way to cope with life. Many of our coping skills continue to be effective throughout our lives, however some of them stop working eventually. I will teach you new ways to cope which will support healthy and mindful living. You will learn to create healthy boundaries and express yourself. Other people will notice the changes in you. Most of all, you will notice.

Training and experience are important factors to consider in choosing a therapist. Bringing more than 30 years of group, family, and individual counseling to the table, my education in Biblical studies as well as in psychological theories motivate me to continue developing in this work. A Bachelor of Science degree in Biblical Studies and a Master of Science in Christian Counseling from Philadelphia Biblical University prepared me well for post-graduate training at the PENN Council for Relationships, then a division of the Department of Psychiatry & Family Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. While I have been licensed to practice in Pennsylvania for years, I am now board certified and licensed here in Florida as well.

Life has led me through many interesting and strange experiences and to worship in many different church settings. Christ has led me from camping in the woods at rock festivals, to raising a family, to serious study of His Word. How many Licensed Christian counselors do you know who were there at Woodstock in ’69? Well, you can say you know one now.
